Twitter/X Guide

X (still Twitter in everyone's muscle memory) went through more monetization and verification changes in two years than most platforms see in a decade, and the account market reflects that churn. The old rules — blue checkmark means notable person — are gone. What matters now: account age, whether the account can get Premium, and whether it's shadowbanned. Everything else is cosmetics.

What's actually worth paying for

• Aged accounts. Pre-2020 accounts with real tweet history. Older accounts get more algorithmic trust and survive automation better. "2009 joined" in the bio is verifiable — check the actual join date on the profile, since it's trivially faked in screenshots.
• X Premium-eligible accounts. Premium (formerly Blue) requires a phone number, an account older than 30 days, and recent activity. An aged, phone-verified account that qualifies is worth more than the sum of its parts because it skips the waiting.
• Creator / ad accounts. Accounts eligible for ad revenue sharing need Premium, 500+ verified followers, and 5M+ organic impressions in 3 months. If a listing claims revenue-share eligibility, ask for the monetization tab screenshot — and then verify it yourself on login.
• Handle (OG) accounts. Short or dictionary-word @handles hold value independent of the account's history, same as Instagram OGs.

What to check before you buy

• Shadowban test. Post a tweet with an unusual hashtag from the account, then search that hashtag in a logged-out browser. If the tweet doesn't appear, the account's reach is limited. Also check the "search suggestion ban" variant: search the exact @handle logged-out and see if it autocompletes.
• Email and phone binding. Change the email to yours immediately; add your phone if the listing includes phone-change rights. X's recovery heavily favors the original email, so this step is the whole ballgame.
• 2FA. Turn it on. X supports authenticator apps and security keys — use them, since SMS 2FA now requires Premium.
• Developer / API access. If you're buying for automation, ask whether the account has (or can get) API access at the tier you need. API tiers changed repeatedly; "API-ready" in a 2023 listing means nothing today.
• Ad account history. For ads use: check the ads account status and any past suspensions in the Ads Manager.

Delivery and day-one routine

Standard delivery is username:password plus email access or an email-change token. Log in, change the email, enable 2FA, and review Settings → Security → Apps and sessions to revoke anything unfamiliar. Then behave like a human for a few days — X flags accounts that change everything and immediately start posting links at volume.

Warranty expectations

24–72 hours for login failures and suspended-on-arrival accounts. Shadowban status on arrival is worth negotiating into the deal: reputable sellers of premium accounts will replace an account that fails the logged-out search test on day one. Reach problems that develop later from your own posting behavior are yours.

Common scams

• The reclaim. X's account recovery leans on the original email and creation IP. Complete the email change and screenshot the settings page showing your email as primary.
• Fake join dates. "Joined 2009" in a screenshot proves nothing. Log in and check the profile yourself.
• Premium badge rental. Some sellers subscribe to Premium for one month to make the account look verified, then cancel. Check the subscription status in Settings → Premium, including the renewal date.

A final note on pricing: age is the main price driver, then verification eligibility, then handle quality. A 2012 account with a clean record and a decent handle is the blue-chip asset of this shelf — everything else is priced off it. If a deal looks dramatically cheaper than comparable listings, the shadowban test on day one is not optional.
