Account Safety Tips After Delivery
The credentials just landed on your order page. Before you do anything else — before you even log in properly — run through these seven steps. Ten minutes now saves you from the classic "someone else logged into my account" panic later.
The 10-minute lockdown
- Change the password immediately. The seller knows the current one. This is non-negotiable, step one, do it now. Use something long and unique — a password manager helps.
- Change the recovery email. If the listing included recovery email access, move the account to your recovery email. This is how you prove ownership if anything goes wrong later.
- Turn on 2FA with your own device. Remove any existing authenticator and enroll yours. Screenshot the backup codes and store them somewhere safe — not in the same file as the password.
- Review active sessions and revoke them. Most platforms show "logged in devices" in security settings. Kick everything that isn't you.
- Check the account's email/phone bindings. Some accounts have a phone number attached from the original owner. Replace it with yours or remove it if the platform allows.
- Don't change everything at once on high-security platforms. Counterintuitive, but: changing password + email + phone + 2FA within 60 seconds can trigger fraud locks on some services. Space sensitive changes a few minutes apart.
- Warm it up gently. A fresh-to-you account that immediately does 500 aggressive actions looks like a hijack — because from the platform's perspective, it kind of is. Normal usage for a day or two first.
Storage: treat credentials like cash
Your delivery file is valuable. Don't leave it in Downloads forever, don't email it to yourself, don't put it in a shared Google Doc. A password manager or an encrypted file is the right home. Delete the original download once it's stored safely.
One more thing
If anything about the account looks off — wrong region, unexpected 2FA you can't remove, a recovery email that won't change — don't try to fix it for three days. Open a ticket immediately while the warranty is open. "I tried to fix it myself for a week" is how valid warranty claims die.
